Become a Mentor

Every young person can benefit from the support of an additional caring adult in their lives — someone who listens, believes in them, and encourages them to achieve their dreams. This one-on-one relationship can be pivotal in keeping a young person engaged and motivated in school.

Could this be you?

We actively recruit, screen, and train members of our local community to join our team as volunteer mentors. Once onboard, mentors are carefully matched with young people attending one of our partner schools. Mentors commit to a minimum one-year relationship, spending one hour per week with their mentees.

Just one hour a week… and you can change two lives!

Join Us as a Mentor

At Standing Tall in Hamilton, we ask for a commitment of just one hour a week during school terms, for a minimum of one year. During your sessions, you’ll support a young person in areas such as personal development, self-esteem, and life skills by sharing your interests and experiences.

Before being paired with a young person, all mentors complete a screening process and mandatory Child Safety Training to ensure a safe and positive mentoring experience. Pairings are then made based on shared interests and compatibility.

Ask Yourself:

  • Can you commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 1 year?
  • Do you care about the future of young people?
  • Are you passionate about making a difference?
  • Do you meet our criteria for what we look for in a mentor?

If you answered “yes,” we’d love to hear from you!
